Use this troubleshooting hub to identify common HiTi printer errors, choose the correct model-specific guide, and compare how similar paper, ribbon, jam, cover, connection, and print-quality problems are reported on the HiTi P525L, P750L, P910L, and P322W.
Stop using the printer and disconnect power if you notice smoke, an abnormal odor, excessive heat, liquid inside the printer, a new grinding or straining noise, or paper that cannot be removed using the procedure in the official manual. Do not remove service panels or attempt internal repairs unless instructed by HiTi or a qualified service technician.
Before restarting: photograph or write down the complete message, including every number and word. On the P322W, count the red-light blinks. Error wording can vary by model, firmware version, and manual revision, so the exact display is more useful than a general description such as “paper error.”
Choose your HiTi printer troubleshooting guide
Select the exact model printed on the front, rear, or product label. Do not identify a printer only by an error name, because some HiTi message sets have changed between firmware and documentation revisions.

Safe first checks for common HiTi printer problems
These checks help separate a loading, media, connection, or environmental issue from a fault that requires model-specific service.
Record the exact error
Photograph the display or write down the complete text and number before restarting. For a P322W, count the red-light blinks over more than one cycle and record the result.
Check the media and loading
Confirm that the paper and ribbon are specified for the exact printer model and print size. Reseat them according to the manual, verify the paper orientation, and check only the operator-accessible paper path for scraps or folded media.
Restart once, correctly
After recording the error and completing the safe checks, turn the printer off, disconnect power, wait at least 10 seconds, reconnect, and restart. If the same mechanical or electronics error returns, do not continue cycling the power.
Isolate connection and environment
For USB testing, connect directly to the computer without an unpowered hub and try a known-good cable. For mobile printing, confirm the phone remains connected to the printer’s Wi-Fi even when that network has no internet. Keep the printer level, ventilated, clean, and within the operating conditions stated in its manual.
Why the same HiTi printer may show different error wording
HiTi’s online support pages and newer user manuals do not always present P525L and P750L errors in the same format. For example, HiTi’s P525L support pages use names such as Paper Jam 01–04 and Ribbon Out 01–02, while the December 2024 P525L manual lists numeric LCD entries such as 0300 Ribbon Out, 0400/0401 Paper Out, 0402 Paper Not Ready, and 0500 Paper Jam.
Practical rule: match the guide to the complete message actually shown by your printer. Do not assume that a particular error name identifies a P525L or P750L. The current P525L manual, for example, includes “Paper Not Ready,” so that message alone does not prove the printer is a P750L.
Cross-model HiTi error comparison
The underlying problem may be similar, but each printer family can use different wording. Use these tables as a routing reference, then open the model-specific guide for the corrective procedure.
| P525L | Depending on documentation or firmware revision: Paper Out 01/02, 0400 or 0401 Paper Out, and 0402 Paper Not Ready. |
|---|---|
| P750L | Paper Out 01/02 and Paper Not Ready are listed in HiTi’s official support resources. |
| P910L | Paper Empty or Take Out Paper, depending on the printer state. |
| P322W | Paper Out or a red blinking status light. Check cassette seating, sheet orientation, and the loading instructions. |
| P525L | Ribbon Out 01/02 in HiTi’s support pages; newer manual revisions may show 0300 Ribbon Out. Ribbon Missing and IC Chip Missing are separate conditions. |
|---|---|
| P750L | Ribbon Out 01/02, Ribbon Missing, IC Chip Missing, and related authentication messages. |
| P910L | Ribbon Empty. Incorrect Rib 3 indicates that the installed ribbon type is not correct for the printer or job. |
| P322W | Ribbon Out or a red blinking status light. Reseat or replace the correct ribbon cassette for the P322W. |
| P525L | Ribbon Mismatch, Paper Mismatch, Security Check Fail, IC Chip Error, or IC Chip Missing. Newer manuals may also show numeric prefixes such as 0202 or 0600. |
|---|---|
| P750L | Ribbon Mismatch 01/02/03, Paper Mismatch, Security Check Fail, and IC-chip messages. |
| P910L | Incorrect Rib 3. Install the correct ribbon type specified for the P910L and the selected print size. |
| P322W | The printer has no text display. Confirm the correct P322W paper and ribbon cassette, then report the red-light blink count if the fault remains. |
| P525L | Paper Jam 01–04 in HiTi’s support pages; newer manual revisions may show 0500 Paper Jam. Follow the exact jam-removal procedure and cut away folded or printed paper before reloading. |
|---|---|
| P750L | Paper Jam 01–05. Different numbers refer to different areas of the feed or exit path. |
| P910L | Paper Jam 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 41–57, 81–87, 96, or 97. Record the exact number before taking action. |
| P322W | A red blinking status light. HiTi advises checking sheet orientation and rebooting once so the printer can attempt to eject the media; contact support if it cannot be removed or ejected safely. |
| P525L | CAM Error, ADC Error, NVRAM Error, FW Check Error, Cutter Error, or Printing Fail. A new P525L showing CAM Error 01 may still have the protective print-head pad installed; persistent errors require support. |
|---|---|
| P750L | CAM Error 01/02, ADC Error, NVRAM Error, FW Check Error, Cutter Error, or Printing Fail. Internal errors that return after a proper restart are not operator repairs. |
| P910L | Mecha Error, Sensor Error, TempSensErr, Control Error, or Controller Error. Record both the error family and number because similarly named families have different meanings. |
| P322W | A red blinking status light. HiTi’s public support page asks users to report the number of blinks to technical support; it does not publish a complete public blink-count interpretation table. |
| P525L / P750L | Check that the front cover is fully closed and that the ribbon and media are seated without obstructing the latch. |
|---|---|
| P910L | HiTi’s official support answer says the drawer is not closing. Close the paper drawer fully and make sure nothing blocks it. |
HiTi print-quality troubleshooting
Most print defects do not produce an error code. Keep at least one defective print and note whether the problem repeats in the same location, changes between prints, affects every color, or appears only on one media kit.
A straight white line or unprinted stripe
HiTi’s P525L manual identifies a straight unprinted stripe as a possible dirty thermal head. Follow the cleaning method and materials specified for the exact model. If the line remains in the same location after correct cleaning, contact support.
Small dots or missing areas
Dust, paper fibers, fingerprints, or a dirty roller can interrupt dye transfer. Handle media by the edges, keep unused kits sealed, and clean only the components and surfaces identified in the official manual.
Wrinkles, irregular bands, or ribbon marks
Stop printing and inspect the ribbon for creasing, slack, tears, or incorrect seating. Do not continue running a wrinkled or damaged ribbon through the thermal head.
Weak, uneven, or inaccurate color
Test with a known reference image, confirm the correct driver and media size, and check whether the media was exposed to heat, moisture, or direct sunlight. Avoid changing several driver and software settings at once.
Skew, white edges, or incorrect cropping
Confirm that the paper roll or cassette is seated correctly, the selected driver size matches the installed media, and the print template has the correct dimensions and bleed.
The defect remains after cleaning
Stop repeated cleaning if the same defect remains after the approved procedure and a known-good media kit. Additional cleaning will not correct every print-head, pressure, feed, or electronics fault.

Frequently asked questions
Where should I start when my HiTi printer shows an error?
Record the complete error text and number before restarting. Then confirm the exact printer model, correct paper and ribbon, proper media installation, and any visible obstruction in the operator-accessible paper path. Restart once. If the same internal or mechanical error returns, contact support.
Why does my P525L error not match the wording in a troubleshooting page?
HiTi’s online support pages and newer manuals sometimes use different formats. P525L support pages include names such as Paper Jam 01–04, while a newer P525L manual lists numeric LCD messages such as 0500 Paper Jam. Use the complete message shown on your printer and check the guide for alternate wording.
What does a blinking red light mean on the HiTi P322W?
It means the printer has detected an error. Count the blinks over more than one cycle, record the number, check the paper cassette and ribbon installation, and restart once. HiTi’s public support page asks users to provide the blink count to technical support but does not publish a complete public interpretation table.
Why does a HiTi printer report a ribbon mismatch with new media?
The paper, ribbon, RFID information, printer model, or selected print size may not match. Confirm that every component is specified for the exact printer and size, and that parts from different opened kits were not mixed. Reseat the ribbon and paper according to the model guide.
Why does the P910L say “Cover Open” when it has a drawer?
On the P910L, HiTi’s official support answer states that the message means the drawer is not closing. Close the paper drawer fully and check that media or debris is not blocking it.
What causes a white line on every HiTi print?
A dirty thermal head is one possible cause of a straight unprinted stripe. Follow the cleaning instructions and materials specified in the official manual for the exact model. If the line remains in the same position after correct cleaning, stop and contact support.
Can I use third-party or non-specified media in a HiTi printer?
Use the paper and ribbon specified by HiTi for the exact printer model and print size. Incompatible or mismatched media can cause recognition, feed, ribbon, and print-quality problems. Warranty coverage depends on the current warranty terms and the cause of the failure, so confirm compatibility before use.
Does HiTiPrinters.com repair HiTi printers?
No. HiTiPrinters.com does not operate a repair center and does not accept printers for repair. We can assist with general troubleshooting, error identification, media compatibility, drivers, firmware, software, and connection issues. When manufacturer support or physical repair is needed, we can help direct you to HiTi Digital. HiTi also provides an official online repair-request form for customers in the United States and Canada.
How do I identify my HiTi printer model?
Use the model name printed on the printer’s product label or shown in the computer’s printer list. The P322W is a compact, sheet-fed wireless model without a text display; the P910L is the large-format model with a paper drawer; the P525L and P750L are roll-fed commercial printers. Do not rely only on an error name to distinguish a P525L from a P750L.
