Most HiTi P525L problems fall into three groups: an error on the printer display, a print-quality defect, or a connection and setup issue. Find the symptom that matches what you see, follow the steps in order, and stop when the guide identifies the problem as a service-level repair.

Start here: four checks before you troubleshoot
Run these four before working any specific error. A meaningful share of P525L faults are one of these four, and every one of them can produce a misleading error message.
1. Power cycle properly
Switch the printer off, unplug it from power, wait about 30 seconds, then reconnect and power up. This gives the printer time to reset before you decide that the message represents a persistent fault.
2. Confirm the media is a matched kit
Confirm that the paper and ribbon are compatible P525L media of the same size and type. Keep partly used paper rolls and ribbons paired and labeled; mixing sizes or separating partially used components can create mismatch messages or leave the printer with unequal paper and ribbon remaining.
3. Check the cable and the port
Use a USB cable of ordinary length, connected directly to the computer. Unpowered hubs, long extensions and front-panel ports on older workstations cause intermittent failures that look like printer faults. If the printer drops mid-job, the cable is a strong suspect.
4. Look at the environment
Dye sublimation is sensitive to dust and humidity. A printer sitting on a floor at an outdoor event, next to a fog machine, or in an unconditioned storage room will show quality faults and feed faults that have nothing to do with the printer itself. Note the conditions before you start swapping parts.
Dealer experience: When a P525L customer contacts our support team, we first ask for the exact display message, whether the problem began immediately after a media change, and whether the printer is connected directly by USB. Those three details usually tell us whether to begin with media loading, the computer and cable, or the printer itself—and they help prevent customers from replacing parts before the basic setup has been isolated.
Paper feed and jam errors
These errors come from sensors along the paper path. The printer is reporting that paper is not where it expects it to be, which is not always the same thing as a physical jam.
Paper Jam 01, Paper Jam 02, Paper Jam 03 and Paper Jam 04
What it means
The printer detected paper or another obstruction where it should not be. HiTi groups Paper Jam 01 and Paper Jam 03 as obstructions inside the printer, while Paper Jam 02 and Paper Jam 04 point to paper, scraps or another object around the exit area.
Most likely causes
A torn or curled leading edge, a paper scrap left in the path, a trimmed strip lodged near the exit or cutter, an object blocking the output area, or paper that did not feed squarely. For Jam 01 or 03, inspect the internal path. For Jam 02 or 04, concentrate on the exit and cutter area.
What to do
Power off before inspecting the path. Remove loose scraps that are safely reachable. Reinstall the ribbon, close the door and restart the printer so the rollers can release. Once the rollers release, remove the jammed paper gently in the normal direction of travel. Trim a damaged leading edge square before reloading, and confirm the paper feeds straight. Contact support if the paper cannot be removed without force.
Do not do this
Do not pull hard while the rollers are still locked, and do not force paper backward through the cutter or across the thermal head. Restarting with the ribbon installed and the door closed allows the printer to release the rollers first.
Call for service if
The same jam number returns on the first print after a full clean-out with fresh media, or you can hear the mechanism straining or clicking during the feed. A repeating jam at the same stage points at a sensor or a drive component, not at the paper.
Paper Out 01 and Paper Out 02
What it means
Paper Out 01 means the roll is not installed or the paper was not inserted far enough for the printer to detect it. Paper Out 02 means the roll is empty or installed in the wrong orientation.
Most likely causes
For Paper Out 01: no roll, a leading edge that was not inserted correctly, or paper not reaching the detection point. For Paper Out 02: an empty roll or a roll installed upside down or backward. Poorly seated roll flanges can also prevent a clean feed.
What to do
For Paper Out 01, install the roll and feed the leading edge until the printer's paper-detection indicator confirms it has been accepted. For Paper Out 02, verify that paper remains and reinstall the roll in the correct direction. Seat both flanges fully, trim any curled leading edge square, and make sure the roll turns without binding.
Call for service if
A correctly oriented, known-good roll is accepted mechanically but the same Paper Out message returns after a restart. That points to a detection or feed problem that requires support.
Paper Mismatch
What it means
The paper the printer detects does not match the print size the job is asking for, or does not match the ribbon that is installed.
Most likely causes
A print size selected in the driver or the photo booth software that the installed media cannot produce. Paper and ribbon from two different kits. Media size changed in the printer but the software still set to the previous size. A print queue still holding jobs created under the old size.
What to do
Confirm the physical media size, then match it in three places: the printer driver defaults, the application or booth software print settings, and the layout or template itself. Clear the print queue entirely before retrying, because a queued job created at the old size will keep throwing the error even after the settings are corrected. Verify that the ribbon, paper and selected media size are compatible.
Watch for
Photo booth applications frequently hold their own media configuration independent of the Windows driver. Changing the driver alone is often not enough.
Dealer experience: The paper-jam calls we can solve remotely usually come down to one of three visual checks: a small scrap near the exit, a leading edge that is curled or torn, or a roll that was not fed squarely. We ask customers to send one photo of the loaded roll and one photo of the exit area before they pull anything. That often reveals the cause and reduces the risk of forcing paper through the cutter.
Ribbon, IC chip and media authentication errors
The P525L uses an RFID tag associated with the ribbon to identify the media and track its print count. Errors in this group mean the ribbon is missing, physically empty, out of RFID-counted prints, incompatible with the printer, or inconsistent with the media information encoded on the tag.
Ribbon Out 01 and Ribbon Out 02
What it means
Ribbon Out 01 means the ribbon is physically empty. Ribbon Out 02 means the remaining-print count stored in the ribbon's RFID tag has reached zero.
Most likely causes
For Ribbon Out 01, the ribbon has reached its physical end. For Ribbon Out 02, the RFID count is exhausted even if a small amount of ribbon appears to remain. Failed or canceled prints can still consume ribbon panels and reduce the available count.
What to do
Install a new compatible P525L ribbon. If the message appears immediately with a new ribbon, remove and reinstall it, restart the printer, confirm that it is the correct media size and test a second known-good ribbon. A new ribbon that repeatedly produces Ribbon Out 02 may have a defective or exhausted RFID tag.
Important
Paper and ribbon counts can become unequal after failed prints, canceled jobs or troubleshooting tests. Do not assume that visible ribbon remaining means the RFID count is still available.
Ribbon Missing
What it means
The printer cannot detect a ribbon cassette in position.
Most likely causes
The cassette is not fully seated. The ribbon is not correctly threaded between the supply and take-up spools. The cassette is seated but the cover is not closed far enough to engage. Slack ribbon jamming the cassette against its seat.
What to do
Remove the cassette entirely, confirm the ribbon is threaded correctly and taut, then reinsert it until it seats with positive engagement rather than resting loosely. Close the cover firmly and power cycle.
Ribbon Mismatch 01 and Ribbon Mismatch 03
What it means
For both Ribbon Mismatch 01 and Ribbon Mismatch 03, HiTi identifies the cause as a difference between the physical ribbon size and the size encoded in its RFID tag.
Most likely causes
The wrong ribbon size, a ribbon intended for another printer or region, an incorrectly encoded or damaged RFID tag, or media that does not match the paper and job settings.
What to do
Confirm the ribbon is compatible with the P525L and matches the installed paper size. Reinstall it and restart the printer. If a second known-good ribbon works, treat the first ribbon or its RFID tag as defective and contact the media supplier. If multiple known-good ribbons fail, contact technical support.
Prevention
Label every partly used ribbon and paper roll with its size and keep the pair together between events. This prevents mix-ups and makes remaining-count differences easier to understand.
IC Chip Error and IC Chip Missing
What it means
IC Chip Missing generally means the printer does not detect an installed ribbon. IC Chip Error means HiTi considers the ribbon's RFID tag defective or unreadable.
Most likely causes
A ribbon that is not installed or not seated correctly, a damaged RFID tag, an incompatible ribbon, or a printer-side RFID detection problem.
What to do
For IC Chip Missing, reinstall the ribbon, close the door and restart the printer. For IC Chip Error, replace the ribbon with a known-good compatible ribbon. Do not attempt to reset or modify the RFID tag. If the replacement works, contact the supplier about the original ribbon.
Call for service if
The message remains after a correctly installed, known-good ribbon is tested. Repeating the same result with more than one ribbon points to the printer's RFID detection system.
Security Check Fail
What it means
The installed media did not pass the printer's authentication check.
Most likely causes
A ribbon that is not compatible with the printer, including the wrong printer model or media size, an incompatible media revision, or an incorrectly encoded RFID tag.
What to do
Confirm the ribbon is the correct compatible P525L media for your printer and media size. Reinstall and restart. If the message remains, test a known-good ribbon and contact the media supplier for replacement of the incompatible ribbon. Contact technical support if more than one verified ribbon fails.
Worth knowing
HiTi describes Security Check Fail as a ribbon-compatibility problem rather than a general printer failure. Keep the media packaging and lot information until the kit has been tested; the supplier may need those details to confirm compatibility or authorize replacement.
The ribbon has broken mid-job
The immediate fix
HiTi permits a broken ribbon to be joined with tape as a temporary recovery. Power off, remove the ribbon, align the broken ends and make the joint flat and secure. Wind the repaired section fully onto the take-up side so the taped joint will not pass through the active printing area, then reinstall and test.
What the fix costs you
Treat this as an event-recovery measure, not a permanent repair. The failed print is lost, and the taped area must be wound beyond the printing path. Replace the ribbon if the joint cannot be made flat or if it breaks again.
Why it broke
A ribbon can break after a jam, a wrinkle, handling damage or excessive resistance in the path. Storage in heat or humidity can also affect media condition. A second break soon after the first should be treated as a warning that the problem may be mechanical or media-related rather than an isolated tear.
Call for service if
More than one ribbon breaks in the same printer within a short period, particularly if the breaks occur at a consistent point in the panel sequence. That is a mechanical or thermal problem, and continuing to tape ribbons will not address it.
Dealer experience: Our fastest way to separate a media problem from a printer problem is to test one known-good compatible ribbon. When one ribbon fails and another works, we direct the customer to the media supplier and ask them to retain the box, lot information and failed ribbon. When multiple verified ribbons produce the same RFID-related message, we stop opening media and move the diagnosis to the printer.
Hardware and system errors
These errors report the printer's own components and firmware rather than the media. Some are recoverable by the operator and some are not, and the difference matters.
CAM Error 01
What it means
The cam mechanism that raises and lowers the print head did not reach its expected position. The printer stops because it cannot confirm where the head is.
On a brand new printer
On a new P525L, HiTi specifically instructs the user to confirm that the protective pad over the thermal print head has been removed. The two black spacers supplied with the printer are for using 5x7 paper; they are not transport locks.
On a printer in service
Confirm that no protective head pad remains in the printer. If the printer has already been in service, power off and inspect only the safely accessible path for jammed paper or torn ribbon. Remove the obstruction if it can be reached without disassembly, reinstall the media correctly and restart.
Call for service if
The protective pad has been removed and the error returns after one restart, or clearing a visible obstruction does not solve it. HiTi recommends contacting technical support rather than continuing to cycle the mechanism.
Cutter Error
What it means
The cutter did not complete its travel and return to its home position.
Most likely causes
Accumulated paper dust and trimmed strips around the cutter, which is by far the most common cause on printers used heavily for 2x6 photo strip work. Partial cuts leaving paper bound in the blade. A blade dulled by high volume.
What to do
Power off before inspecting the cutter and exit. Remove loose paper shreds with a soft brush or low-suction vacuum from outside the mechanism. Do not place fingers or tools into the blade path. If paper remains trapped, restart the printer only as directed so the mechanism can release; contact support if it cannot be removed safely.
Prevention
Printers doing high strip volume shed considerably more paper dust than printers doing 4x6 work. If your P525L runs strips, clearing the cutter area should be part of routine cleaning rather than something you do when an error appears.
Call for service if
The error returns after a thorough clean, or cuts are ragged and incomplete on fresh media. That is a blade or drive fault.
ADC Error, NVRAM Error and FW Check Error
What they mean
ADC Error and NVRAM Error are internal printer faults that HiTi directs to technical support. FW Check Error indicates that the installed firmware is not compatible with the printer's model or region, or that the correct firmware did not load successfully.
What to do
For ADC Error or NVRAM Error, restart once and contact technical support if the message remains or returns. For FW Check Error, download only the firmware that matches the exact P525L model and region, install it over a stable direct connection, and contact support if the correct firmware does not clear the error.
Important during firmware work
Never interrupt a firmware update. Do not power off, unplug or disconnect USB while an update is running. An interrupted update can leave the printer unable to start, which turns a software problem into a bench repair.
Call for service if
Any of these three persists after a power cycle, or recurs more than once. These are not operator-serviceable faults, and there is nothing to be gained from repeated restarts.
Cover Open
What it means
The printer does not detect that the cover is closed and latched.
Most likely causes
The cover is genuinely not latched. A ribbon cassette not fully seated, holding the cover a fraction open. Paper or debris in the latch area. A worn latch or switch on a heavily used printer.
What to do
Open the cover fully, reseat the ribbon cassette until it engages positively, check the latch area is clear, then close the cover with firm and even pressure until it latches audibly. If it reports open while visibly closed and latched, the switch is the fault.
Printing Fail
What it means
A general failure indicating the job did not complete. It is a symptom rather than a diagnosis, and the useful information is usually in what happened immediately before it.
Most likely causes
A communication drop mid-job from a marginal USB cable, an unpowered hub, or a computer entering a sleep or power-saving state. A corrupted job in the queue. A driver version that does not match the printer firmware. A file the driver cannot process.
What to do
Clear the print queue completely rather than retrying the failed job. Power cycle the printer. Connect directly to the computer with a known-good USB cable, bypassing hubs. Disable USB selective suspend and sleep on the host machine, which matters on any machine driving a printer through a long event. Print a single test image to confirm before returning to the production queue.
If it happens at events but not on the bench
Suspect power and cabling rather than the printer. Shared circuits, long extension leads and low voltage at venues produce failures that never reproduce in the shop.
Dealer experience: We treat CAM, ADC, NVRAM and repeated cutter errors differently from ordinary loading mistakes. After one careful visual check and one restart, we stop. Repeated cycling can consume media or place more stress on a blocked mechanism, while the exact error text and a short video of the startup sequence give technical support much better diagnostic information.
Print quality problems
The printer reports no error for these. The output itself is the diagnostic, and the direction and character of a defect tells you where it originates. Keep the bad print. It is the most useful piece of evidence you have, and the first thing a technician will ask you to describe.
Horizontal lines across the print
What it usually indicates
A line running across the direction of paper travel generally points to an interruption in transport or ribbon feed rather than to the head itself. A head defect normally produces a line running along the direction of travel, not across it. That distinction is the fastest way to narrow the cause.
Most likely causes
Ribbon slack or wrinkling causing a momentary feed stutter. Debris on the platen roller. A paper path obstruction producing a brief hesitation. A printer on an unstable surface being bumped mid-print.
What to do
Remove the ribbon cassette and check for slack or wrinkles, taking up tension by hand. Inspect and clean the platen roller. Check that the printer sits level and stable. Reprint the same image and compare: a line that appears in the same place every time is mechanical, while a line that moves is a feed or tension issue.
Call for service if
The line reproduces in exactly the same position on every print after cleaning and a fresh ribbon.
White lines or scratches along the print
What it usually indicates
A thin unprinted line running the length of the print, in the direction of paper travel, is the classic signature of debris on the print head or of a failed heating element. A scratch pattern points instead to something abrasive in the paper path.
What to do first
Power off, unplug and allow the head to cool. HiTi recommends alcohol above 90% applied to a clean nonwoven, lint-free material. Wipe the print-head surface gently in one direction and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling media. Do not pour or spray liquid inside the printer.
How to read the result
If the line disappears, contamination was the likely cause. If it remains in exactly the same position after correct cleaning and a fresh ribbon, stop cleaning and contact support; a persistent fixed-position defect may require print-head service.
Never do this
Do not touch the head with fingers, and do not use paper towel, tissue, or any abrasive material. The head is the most expensive component in the printer and it is easily damaged by cleaning done wrong.
Speckle, spots or blemishes in the image
What it usually indicates
Contamination. Dust, paper fibers or fingerprints between the ribbon and the paper prevent dye transfer at that point, leaving a visible speck. Randomly placed specks are almost always environmental rather than mechanical.
Most likely causes
Operating in a dusty environment. Handling paper with bare hands and leaving skin oils on the surface. Media stored unwrapped. Paper dust from strip cutting settling back into the path. A printer used outdoors or on the floor.
What to do
Clean the paper path, the platen roller and the head. Handle rolls by the edges and the core rather than the print surface. Keep media sealed until it goes into the printer. Raise the printer off the floor at events and keep the cover closed when idle.
If specks repeat in the same position
That is not environmental contamination. Something is stuck on the head or the platen, and that spot needs targeted cleaning.
Weak, flat or inconsistent density
Diagnose it this way
Density that is weak across the whole print is different from density that fades in one area. Uniform weakness points to settings, media or environment. Localized fading points to the head or to uneven pressure. Establish which one you have before changing anything.
Most likely causes
Density or color settings adjusted in the driver or the booth software and then forgotten. Media that has been stored in cold or damp conditions and has not equilibrated to room temperature. Media well past its useful life. A print head aging in heavy production use. Source images that are underexposed, which is a file problem rather than a printer problem.
What to do
Return driver density and color settings to their defaults and print a known reference image, not a customer file. Let cold media sit sealed at room temperature for several hours before loading. Test with a fresh kit. If a fresh kit at default settings on a known reference image still prints weak, the head is the likely cause.
Keep a reference file
Keep one standard test image and one known-good print from when the printer was new. Comparing against a physical reference is far more reliable than judging density from memory, and it is what lets you tell gradual head aging from a bad batch of media.
Skewed prints or a white edge on one side
What it usually indicates
The paper is not tracking straight through the path. An image that sits crooked on the sheet, or leaves an unprinted margin on one edge only, is a loading or tracking problem in almost all cases.
Most likely causes
Roll flanges not fully seated, allowing the roll to sit off-center or wander. A roll that has telescoped, with the layers no longer aligned. A leading edge that was torn rather than cut square. The printer sitting on an uneven surface. Ribbon not tracking straight in the cassette.
What to do
Unload the roll completely. Check that both flanges are fully seated and that the roll is wound evenly with no telescoping. Trim the leading edge square with scissors. Reload, confirming the roll sits centered and turns freely. Confirm the printer is level and stable. Reseat the ribbon cassette and check the ribbon is tracking straight and taut.
Call for service if
Skew persists with a fresh, correctly loaded roll on a level surface. That indicates a mechanical alignment problem in the transport.
Prints coming out at the wrong cut size
What it usually indicates
A settings mismatch rather than a mechanical fault. The printer is cutting where it was told to cut.
Most likely causes
Print size set differently in the driver than in the application. Booth software holding its own media and cut configuration that overrides the driver. A template built at a different size than the one being printed. Scaling applied at print time, such as fit-to-page.
What to do
Check all three layers in order: the template or layout dimensions, the application print settings, and the printer driver defaults. Set scaling to none or 100 percent rather than fit-to-page. Clear the queue and print a single test before resuming. If the printer is shared, confirm no other workstation has changed the shared driver defaults.
For 2x6 strip work
Strip output depends on both the correct media selection and the correct cut mode. Setting the layout to a strip size without enabling the matching cut behavior produces the wrong result even when the image looks right on screen.
Dealer experience: We ask customers to keep the defective print and photograph it straight-on in good light. The two most useful details are whether the mark repeats in exactly the same position and whether it runs with or across the paper path. A random or moving defect usually sends us toward contamination or feed; a fixed defect that survives proper cleaning is when we stop recommending more cleaning and discuss service.
Connection, driver and setup problems
The printer will not connect or keeps dropping
Work in this order
Direct USB connection to the computer, no hub. Known-good cable of ordinary length. Power management disabled on the host, including USB selective suspend and sleep. Current driver installed for the operating system in use. Only then look at the printer.
The most common cause at events
A laptop going to sleep or dropping USB power partway through a long session. This presents as random failures that nobody can reproduce afterward. Set the machine to never sleep before the event rather than diagnosing it during one.
Driver and firmware together
Use the correct P525L driver for the computer's operating system and the correct firmware for the printer's model and region. HiTi recommends keeping both current, but updates should be planned and tested before production use. Never install firmware intended for another model or region.
Wireless printing and mobile app problems
Wireless is an accessory, not built in
Wireless printing requires the HiTi Wi-Fi dongle; HiTi states that third-party Wi-Fi dongles are not supported. The printer can use Wi-Fi and a card reader together when the card reader has both a memory-card slot and a USB port: connect the HiTi Wi-Fi dongle to the card reader, then connect the card reader to the printer.
If images will not transfer
Confirm the phone is connected to the P525L network and has not switched back to venue Wi-Fi because the printer network has no internet. Use HiTi's Prinbiz app. HiTi also specifies that transferred images must be smaller than 25 MB and must not be progressive JPEG files. On a computer, verify the printer SSID and IP settings.
Older Android devices
Some older Android versions will not hold a connection to a network with no internet access, dropping the printer automatically. If an older phone connects and immediately disconnects, this behavior is the reason, and it is a phone setting rather than a printer fault.
Custom templates not loading
Update the printer firmware first, then verify the file path, folder name, file name and pixel dimensions. HiTi lists these template sizes: 4x6: 1280 x 1844 pixels, 5x7: 1544 x 2140 pixels, and 6x8: 1844 x 2434 pixels. Rebuild the file from a known working template if it is still rejected.
macOS and color adjustment
macOS support
HiTi states that the P525L supports macOS and provides a downloadable driver. Because operating-system compatibility changes, confirm that HiTi lists a driver for your exact macOS version before upgrading the Mac or deploying the printer at an event.
Adjusting color
Color and density can be adjusted in the driver properties. Change one variable at a time and print a reference image after each change, keeping every test print labeled with the setting used. Adjusting several values at once and judging the result on a customer photo is how printers end up badly out of calibration with no way back.
Before you adjust anything
Write down the defaults. Most color complaints we see are not printer faults at all, they are an uncalibrated monitor showing something different from what the file actually contains. Confirm the file is correct before changing the printer.
Maintenance and prevention
Most of the faults above are preventable. These are the practices that keep a P525L in service through heavy event use.
Clean at every media change
The moment the printer is open for a new kit is the cheapest time to clean it. Clear paper dust from the path and the cutter area, and check the platen roller. This one habit prevents a large share of cutter errors and speckle complaints.
Keep driver and firmware current, together
Update deliberately, not reflexively. Check for updates when you are troubleshooting a real problem, when adding a new workstation, or after an operating system upgrade. Never update firmware the day before an event, and never interrupt an update in progress.
Store media properly
Keep kits sealed until use, stored flat or upright but never resting on the roll edge, at room temperature and away from damp. Media stored in a vehicle or an unconditioned garage produces fragile ribbons and out-of-round rolls. Let cold media reach room temperature sealed before loading.
Prepare properly before transport
Before transportation, remove the paper roll and ribbon, reinstall the protective pad for the thermal print head, and use the original carton and cushioning whenever possible. Keep that protective pad with the printer; it is a transport item. The two black spacers are for 5x7 paper and should not be confused with the head-protection pad.
Use verified compatible media
The P525L checks ribbon compatibility through RFID. Keep the packaging and buy media from a supplier that can verify the exact printer and media compatibility. This makes Security Check Fail, Ribbon Mismatch and defective-RFID claims much easier to resolve.
Keep a reference print
Save one known-good print made when the printer was new, along with the test file that produced it. It is the only reliable way to detect gradual density loss, and it settles the question of whether a complaint is the printer, the media or the file.
Dealer experience: We recommend a quick visual clean at every media change rather than waiting for a calendar date. Photo-strip operators should pay particular attention to paper shreds around the cutter and exit. When to stop and call for service
Some faults get more expensive the longer you work on them. Stop and contact support in these situations.
Repeated identical errors
The same error code returning on the first print after a full clean-out with fresh media. Repetition at the same point is diagnostic, and further power cycling adds nothing.
Any internal electronics error
ADC Error, NVRAM Error or FW Check Error persisting past one power cycle. These are not operator-serviceable.
A defect in the same position every time
A line or gap that reproduces in an identical position after correct head cleaning and a fresh ribbon indicates a failed heating element. Continued cleaning will not recover it and risks further damage.
Any unusual mechanical noise
Grinding, clicking or straining during feed or cutting. Continuing to run a printer that is making a new noise turns a small repair into a large one.
Anything that would require disassembly
Do not remove external covers or panels to reach a fault. Internal disassembly creates electrical, thermal and mechanical risks and can complicate warranty or repair evaluation. Contact support before opening anything beyond the normal media-access areas.
An interrupted firmware update
A printer that will not start after an interrupted update needs bench recovery. Do not keep power cycling it.

Remove and reinstall the ribbon, restart the printer and confirm that the ribbon is compatible with the P525L and the installed media size. Ribbon Out 01 means the ribbon is physically empty; Ribbon Out 02 means its RFID print count is exhausted. If a new ribbon immediately reports Ribbon Out, test a second known-good ribbon. If the second works, contact the supplier about the first ribbon or RFID tag.
What do Paper Jam 01, 02, 03 and 04 mean on the HiTi P525L?
HiTi groups Paper Jam 01 and 03 as paper or another object stuck inside the printer. Paper Jam 02 and 04 point to paper, shreds or another obstruction around the exit. Reinstall the ribbon, close the door and restart so the rollers can release, then remove paper gently in the normal direction of travel. Contact support if it cannot be removed without force.
What should I do if the P525L shows Paper Jam 02 or error code 0501?
Treat it as an exit-area jam. Check the output and cutter area for a paper edge, trimmed strip or small scrap. Reinstall the ribbon, close the door and restart the printer so the rollers release before removing the paper. Do not force paper backward through the cutter.
What is the difference between Paper Out 01 and Paper Out 02?
Paper Out 01 means the roll is not installed or the leading edge was not inserted far enough to be detected. Paper Out 02 means the roll is empty or installed in the wrong orientation. Reload the roll squarely, seat both flanges and feed the leading edge until the printer accepts it.
Why does my HiTi P525L say Ribbon Mismatch when the ribbon is new?
Ribbon Mismatch 01 and 03 mean the physical ribbon size does not agree with the size encoded in its RFID tag. Verify that the ribbon is compatible with the P525L and matches the paper size. Restart and test a known-good ribbon. If the replacement works, contact the supplier about the original ribbon.
How do I fix IC Chip Error or IC Chip Missing on a P525L?
IC Chip Missing usually means the printer does not detect an installed ribbon; reinstall the ribbon, close the door and restart. HiTi describes IC Chip Error as a broken or unreadable RFID tag, so replace the ribbon. If multiple known-good ribbons produce the same message, contact technical support.
What does Security Check Fail mean on a HiTi P525L?
It means the ribbon is not compatible with the printer. Confirm the exact P525L media, model and media compatibility, then test a known-good ribbon. Contact the media supplier if the message follows one ribbon, or technical support if multiple verified ribbons fail.
What does CAM Error 01 mean on a new HiTi P525L?
First confirm that the protective pad over the thermal print head was removed during setup. The two black spacers are for 5x7 paper and are not transport locks. If CAM Error 01 remains after the protective pad is removed and the printer is restarted once, contact technical support.
Why is my computer not recognizing the HiTi P525L through USB?
Connect the printer directly to the computer with a known-good, ordinary-length USB cable and avoid unpowered hubs. Clear the print queue, confirm the correct P525L driver is installed, and disable sleep or USB power saving during events. Test another cable and USB port before treating the printer as defective.
Why does my P525L print two 2x6 strips but not cut them?
Check the layout dimensions, the photo-booth application's media and cut settings, and the printer-driver defaults. The strip layout alone does not activate the center cut. Select the correct 2x6 or double-strip cut mode, disable fit-to-page scaling, clear the queue and print one test.
Why are my P525L prints too dark or oversaturated?
Return driver color and density controls to their defaults and make sure color management is not being applied twice by both the application and the driver. Test a known reference image and compare it with a calibrated display. Change one setting at a time and label each test print.
Why is there a white line or scratch on every P525L print?
Power off, unplug and let the head cool. Clean the print-head surface gently with alcohol above 90% on a clean nonwoven, lint-free material, then let it dry fully. If the line remains in exactly the same position after correct cleaning and a fresh ribbon, stop cleaning and contact support.
Can I repair a broken HiTi P525L ribbon with tape?
Yes, HiTi permits a temporary taped repair. Align the broken ends, make the joint flat and secure, and wind the repaired section fully onto the take-up side so the taped area will not pass through the active printing path. Replace the ribbon if it breaks again or the joint cannot be made flat.
Does the HiTi P525L support wireless printing and macOS?
Yes. Wireless printing requires the HiTi Wi-Fi dongle; third-party dongles are not supported. HiTi identifies Prinbiz as the mobile printing app. HiTi also states that macOS is supported, but verify driver availability for your exact macOS version before upgrading or deploying the printer.
What are the two black spacers included with the P525L?
